Counselor II/III, Student

The Division of Student Affairs is seeking candidates for the position of Student Counselor in Student Counseling & Psychological Services to provide counseling services for students and to provide information regarding mental health services and programs. This position is embedded and is housed in Auburn University's College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM). The CVM consists of 500 professional students, 110 graduate students (including interns and residents), 459 staff, and 117 faculty members. Essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to:

-Intake assessment
-Individual counseling within a brief treatment framework
-Group counseling
-Supervision of Master's level practicum students
-Crisis intervention and consultation with faculty, staff and specifically the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) patients and stakeholders
-After-hour and weekend emergency coverage
-Managing and treating grief issues
-Developing campus outreach programs

Entry into the applicant pool requires a Master's degree from an accredited institution in Education, Counseling, or relevant field and two (2) years' experience in providing counseling and psychological services.

Desired Qualifications
Desired qualifications include a Ph.D. in Counseling or Clinical Psychology from an APA-Accredited institution; completion of an APA-Accredited Pre-Doctoral Internship; additional years of experience in providing counseling and psychological services to a college student population; licensed or license eligible as a psychologist in the State of Alabama.
