Job Description Summary

The School of Nursing at Auburn University, located in Auburn, Alabama, invites applications for the Associate Dean for Research. The Associate Dean for Research position is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced researcher with leadership/administrative experience to influence health care through nursing and interdisciplinary research. This is a full-time 12-month, tenured/tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, depending on experience and qualifications.
The Associate Dean for Research reports directly to the Dean and represents the School of Nursing to internal and external constituencies to promote, facilitate, and disseminate research/scholarship activities. The successful candidate must possess research leadership skills, interdisciplinary collaboration experience, administrative ability, and interpersonal skills that enable working across multiple disciplines that address priority issues and funding opportunities in the research community.
Auburn University is a land-grant institution with a multicultural student enrollment of over 26,000 and is located in east-central Alabama near several large metropolitan areas (e.g., Montgomery and Birmingham, AL; Atlanta and Columbus, GA). The University provides instruction in approximately 70 academic departments and maintains graduate research and public service programs. The Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine campus is located in Auburn and provides additional opportunities for research, teaching, and outreach collaborations.
The School of Nursing is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and offers baccalaureate and graduate programs with Primary Care Practitioner and Nurse Educator track options. Implementation of the RN to BSN and DNP programs are scheduled to be completed by Fall Semester, 2017. The School of Nursing will move into their new state-of-the-art 89,000 square foot building in 2017 with classes beginning Fall Semester. The new building has a designated Research Suite within the Administrative Wing that will support the school's research infrastructure. Strategic research priorities in the School of Nursing include interdisciplinary collaboration targeting health disparities, health promotion/disease prevention, and innovation in teaching.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must have a research doctorate (Ph.D or equivalent) in nursing or a health-related discipline. Candidates must have a demonstrated record of scholarly achievement and external research funding in nursing and/or interdisciplinary health science research

Desired Qualifications

Ph.D in Nursing is desired, but not essential. Administrative skills in managing research projects, experience in identifying funding opportunities, and developing interdisciplinary partnerships are desirable. The proven ability to mentor junior and midlevel faculty to successful research and scholarly activities is desired.
