Job Purpose
To coordinate all aspects of nursing student retention program on multiple campuses, and provide direct student interventions in the NURSE Success Project.

Project Director, NURSE Success Project
Description of Duties and Tasks
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Meets one-on-one with students. Ensures and tracks nursing student participation in the in-depth student retention assessment process. Administers risk assessment tool, tabulates and interprets results, and makes recommendations for interventions and student assistance.
2. Designs and conducts student retention workshops for faculty and staff.
3. Monitors project data collection of faculty interventions, student participation in retention services, communication, and student outcomes.
4. Oversees collection of all project data. Prepares and presents detailed reports, for various constituents, regarding student retention outcomes and activities.
5. Provides expertise and experience in developing, recommending, implementing, and monitoring retention procedures. Tracks retention data and works with project team to refine assessment, intervention, and retention processes and services.
6. Collects, reviews and analyzes data on the impact of interventions on student outcomes together with other team partners and makes recommendations for process and quality improvements.
7. Serves as liaison and participates in partnership with community partners ensuring seamless systems of services to high risk students enrolled in the project.
8. Provides leadership and training for additional staff in project. Supervises and assigns tasks to support staff personnel.
9. Attends regularly scheduled staff meetings to ensure a collective vision for project outcomes.
10. Coordinates with Financial aid all components of stipend allocation to students-applications, selection, and monitoring.
11. Implements, facilitates, and coordinates all aspects of nursing student retention programs and services on multiple campuses for all academic tracks of the associate degree program, including monitoring and tracking of student involvement and results.
12. Develops and conducts new student orientations and/or group meetings for nursing student retention program, availability of nursing tutors and counselors, and reviews student support services and other resources.
13. Identifies and implements opportunities to market program services to incoming nursing students.
14. Monitors project data collection of faculty interventions, student participation in retention services, communication, and student outcomes. Trains staff on use of tutor tracking software program.
15. Provides support and assistance to Student Retention And Tracking (STAR) staff in identifying effective and appropriate outreach methods to encourage and ensure student engagement and compliance. Tracks retention data and works with STAR team to refine assessment, intervention, and retention processes and services.
16. Organizes and facilitates special-topic focus groups. Reviews student and speaker feedback and implements process and quality improvements.
Knowledge
Must possess required knowledge and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.

Work Experience
Required
Two years related work experience.
Preferred
Two years work experience in nursing student retention programs or in higher education; and experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.
Education
Required
Bachelor's degree in nursing, education or related healthcare profession.
Preferred
Master's degree in Nursing or Education.
Licenses/Certifications
Preferred
If RN, must have current Texas license.
