Faculty Associate, Professional Science Master

The School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences is seeking part-time, non-tenure track Faculty Associates for a hiring pool.  The successful candidate(s) will teach in-person or online courses, prepare course materials, evaluate student work, and assist students. Individuals employed as Faculty Associates may not hold multiple, non-benefits eligible appointments at Arizona State University.

Days and Schedule:  Varies.

Faculty Associate positions are one semester, non-benefits-eligible, fixed-term appointments with no tenure implications, not to exceed an average of .40 FTE per semester. The number of courses is contingent upon unit needs, funding and sufficient enrollment. Salary is based upon qualifications and assigned teaching load.

The Professional Science Master’s degree in Forensic Science Program includes the following courses:

  • FOR 560 Quantitative Methods in Forensic Science Research

Essential Functions of the Position:

  • Teach courses in relevant areas.
  • Prepare syllabus, appropriate course goals and objectives, and lesson plans.
  • Evaluate and select course materials and other teaching materials.
  • Prepare, administer, and grade assignments.
  • Administer written mid-term and/or final exams.
  • Hold regular office hours.
  • Facilitate online discussion forum, field student questions and possibly co-supervise course associates (CAs) and undergraduate assistants

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • At a minimum, a master’s degree in related field with relevant crime or scientific laboratory experience in a field related to the course subject and/or a record of successful teaching of undergraduate/graduate courses related to the course subject at the college or university level or equivalent post-baccalaureate experience.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in online instruction
  • Record of teaching excellence
  • Doctoral degree preferred
  • Crime/scientific laboratory managerial or supervisor experience
  • Record of or a desire to teach students from diverse backgrounds, including first generation, non-traditional, low income, and underrepresented minority students

These recruitments establish potential part-time hiring pools for semester appointments.
