Widener University is currently seeking a Teaching Assistant at Widener Partnership Charter School. This role reports to Assistant Principal and provides support to students and staff at WPCS.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to) :
Essential duties:
- Assists individual and small groups of students with academic assignments, as directed by the classroom teacher
- Responds to student situations using Responsive Classroom and other methodology as appropriate and recommended by the teacher and/or Dean of Students
- Chaperone student field trips
- May be asked to chaperone students to the restroom, nurse, and other school areas/staff.
- May be asked to assist in monitoring of safety of students including fire drills, evacuation drills, shelter in place, and traveling in hallways and stairs and in the lunchroom.
- Monitor students during lunch and recess.
- Assist teachers with clerical tasks such as preparing students' communication folders, etc.
- Provide coverage for classes, when needed
- Participate in WPCS Professional Development days
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required) :
Required:
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
- Proven willingness and ability to collaborate with a diverse community of colleagues, parents/guardians and community members.
- 1-2 years of experience working with school-age children in an educational or childcare setting.
- Strong written and presentation skills
- Excellent verbal communication skills
Preferred:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred
- Experience in district or charter school environment
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR UNUSUAL HOURS:
- Movement around the school is expected in order to fulfill job requirements
- School calendar may require occasional work outside of the regular school day
