Business Manager - Widener Partnership Charter School

Widener Partnership Charter School is a vibrant place of learning for 450 students in kindergarten through eighth grade hailing from the Chester area. A Widener Partnership Charter School education is rigorous and challenging, relevant and engaging, and based on strong and motivating teacher/student, staff team, and peer relationships.

Reporting to the Principal, the Business Manager is a 12-month position designed to supervise, maintain, and perform all financial business as directed by the Principal/CEO as well as work with and maintain relationships with vendors.

Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

Essential duties:
  • Supervise, maintain, and perform all financial business as directed by the Principal/CEO including expenditures, bills, budgeting, investments, accounts payable, insurance, sale of property and site acquisition, and transportation and tuition agreements.
  • Support the development, management, and maintenance of the procurement lifecycle, including but not limited to: vendor selection, account creation, purchase order management, materials requisitioning and receiving, inventory management, and invoice reconciliation and payment
  • Accurately manages Federal Grants (revenue & expenditures) and meets legal timelines.
  • Compiles data for and prepares various reports as directed.
  • Efficiently performs the necessary clerical duties required by the position including but not limited to word processing, filing, preparing correspondence and various agendas, and operates a variety of office machines to include computers.
  • Responsible for site level procurement of supplies, materials, equipment, and inventory management.
  • Work with school personnel to maintain integrity and accuracy of student records and files, including maintenance and tracking of attendance and retention.
  • Work with school staff to manage reporting and data tracking for all students
  • Ensure invoices are paid on time through ensuring checks are signed promptly and all invoices are passed onto the finance team
  • Coordinates registration/lodging for conferences as needed.
  • Maintains a system of internal control for all funds and fund account codes.
  • Monitors purchase orders.
  • Direct the general operations and financial procedures of the food service program. Mange the free and reduced price federal lunch program component.
  • Provides secretarial support/assistance for security personnel as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Principal

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS ( education/training and experience required):

Required:

Bachelor's degree in Business, Business Management or other related fields plus 3 to 5 years of previous experience in sales, management, customer service, finance, administration, or related field that includes budget management, projections and/or accounts payable (a combination of degree and experience may be considered)
    • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (EXCEL, WORD, OUTLOOK, ACCESS database)
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Demonstrated budget experience with strong reporting capabilities
    • Working knowledge of various computer programs (experience with Google Apps for business and Salesforce.com preferred but not required)
    • Proven financial management skills.
    • Critical and strategic thinking and problem solving skills.
    • Ability to resolve issues, answer questions, and work independently with limited supervision;
    • Strong interpersonal communication skills required; ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing with varied constituent groups.
    • Must be able to deal with multiple tasks in a fast paced work environment while paying attention to the details
    • Required to work well with others and to contribute to a positive work environment; must be willing to accept responsibility and work with limited supervision
    • Working with limited supervision, must be willing to take initiative, be a problem solver, and willing to offer suggestions and ideas to insure the smooth and efficient operation of the Office

    Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours:
    • Typical classroom and office environment. Must be able to work on computer for more than 2 hours at a time,
    • Movement around the school is expected in order to fulfill job requirements
    • School calendar may require occasional work outside of the regular school day


    The Business Manager will report directly to the Principal/CEO.
