The Division of Medical Physics in the Department of Radiation Medicine and Applied Sciences (RMAS) at University of California, San Diego (http://radonc.ucsd.edu) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body is seeking multiple faculty medical physicists an Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor.

The UC San Diego Moores Cancer Center is an NCI Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. The department consists of roughly 38,000 sq ft of clinical and office space. Equipment includes 8 Varian linear accelerators (iX, TrueBeams, Halcyon), 1 Varian Bravos HDR Unit, and 4 GE CT scanners. Treatment planning is performed with Eclipse-BrachyVision-VariSeed and associated tasks are done within the ARIA system. The department also includes 6 AlignRT surface imaging systems and 2 Xoft devices. The Division of Medical Physics covers a range of clinical services including: 3DCRT, IMRT, VMAT, SRS, SBRT, IGRT, motion-management, HDR, LDR, TBI, TSET, IORT, pediatrics, and oversee the California Protons Cancer Therapy Center. The Division is also responsible for several regional facilities. Currently, our team consists of 18 physicists, 4 IT specialists, and a number of postdoctoral fellows.

The positions require day-to-day clinical support and will include direct interaction with patients and their families as well as the design and management of a patient's radiation therapy treatment course. The main facility is located in La Jolla (UC San Diego Moores Cancer Center) where the successful candidates will primarily reside, though periodic coverage at our regional practice sites may be required.

Candidates must have a PhD and be board eligible or certified in of the in one of the STEM academic disciplines. Candidates must also have a demonstrated publication and teaching record and excellent communication skills are also needed for regular interactions with radiation oncologists, nurses, therapists, and dosimetrists.

While the ability to obtain extramural funding is not required, candidates with research experience are preferred.

The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on the University of California pay scales. Appointments may require candidates to be self-funded.
