Assistant Professor of Nursing

Reports To: Division Chair of Nursing
Position Type: Full-time Faculty
Standard Hours: 40 hours / week
FLSA Status: Exempt

Summary:
Nursing faculty are responsible for teaching domestic undergraduate and graduate nursing or wellness courses offered through Keuka College as well as the Adult/Online Education (AOE) programs. Teaching assignments may require travel to locations throughout Central and Western New York, the Finger Lakes and/or the Southern Tier. The qualified candidates will have expertise and teaching experience in one or preferably more than one of the following functional disciplines within the nursing field: Baccalaureate program; nursing research, family health nursing, health assessment, genetics, nursing research, epidemiology, community health nursing, and leadership. Master's program: nursing informatics, nursing research, advanced health assessment, advanced pathophysiology, advanced pharmacology, and/or adult-gerontology primary care health. This position is a non-tenure-track (12) month faculty position and also supports academic program quality and student success through activities such as advising, course and curriculum development, program development, scholarship, and ongoing professional development.

Essential Responsibilities:
• Provide quality instruction in nursing in traditional, accelerated, and online formats.
• Serve as an advisor to students/cohorts.
• Coordinate the activities of the student cohort representatives.
• Serve as a liaison for student and instructor concerns.
• Assist with the recruitment, professional development, and evaluation of clinical preceptors and adjunct instructors.
• Support ongoing curriculum review/revision and updates.
• Participate in curricular and program assessment.
• Take an active role in accreditation processes.
• Maintain an active role in continuous quality improvement activities of Keuka College and program area.
• Contribute to the College and community through participation in College functions, community activities, and committee service.
• Demonstrate scholarship, continuing professional development and maintain expertise in clinical practice and areas of teaching responsibility.
• 12-month contract that carries a load equivalent to 10 courses or 30 credits per academic year (August to August).
• Deliver a teaching load determined by the Division Chair and Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs. This teaching load may include a variety of instructional delivery formats.
• Collaborate with Ault/Online Education (AOE) administration and staff to ensure program quality.
• Responsible for ensuring that assigned tasks are completed in compliance with various institutional and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain a professional and courteous attitude at all times towards co-workers, internal and external customers, representing Keuka College, its programs, policies, and procedures in a positive and professional manner. Maintain effective working relationships to ensure institution-wide teamwork.
• Attend provided/necessary training and other meetings to support effectiveness within the position as required.
• Consistently demonstrate high standards of integrity by supporting the Keuka College mission, vision, and values and adhering to institutional policies.
• Maintain a high regard for student privacy in accordance with the FERPA privacy policies and procedures.
• Regular and reliable attendance is expected and required.
• Perform other functions as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Masters in Nursing required. Doctoral degree or ABD in nursing, education or health related field preferred.
2. Must hold a current unencumbered license as a registered professional nurse in New York State.
3. Nationally Certified through ANCC or AANP as a Nurse Practitioner in Adult-Gerontology Primary Care or Family Nurse Practitioner.
4. Recent experience working in the clinical setting which may include a health system, hospital, and/or community health agency.
5. Engaged in active practice and scholarship.
6. Minimum of one-year experience in teaching traditional and/or non-traditional students in non-traditional, accelerated, online, and other formats.
7. Ability to teach evenings and travel to various locations across Central and Western New York State, the Finger Lakes and/or Southern Tier.
8. Excellent planning, communication, and organizational skills.
9. Computer experience with Microsoft Office.
10. Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
11. Understand and behave with a high level of integrity and complete confidentiality at all times.
12. Ability to be sensitive to and respond to needs/concerns of students, faculty, college staff and the public.
13. Ability to work under pressure with a high tolerance for interruptions, and the ability to work with diverse groups of people.

Physical Requirements:
• Some evening and weekend hours may be required.
• Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
