Job Description:

 

This is a full-time 12-month position in the Division of Nursing and Allied Health to take responsibility for the coordination, facilitation, administration and monitoring of the clinical education portion of the Physical Therapist Assistant program reporting directly to the PTA Program Chair/Director. This individual must be competent in clinical education, teaching in a Physical Therapist Assistant program, and in curriculum development. This position will require travel for College, accreditation, and clinical activities.

  • Clearly communicating to students at the beginning of a course what they are to learn (course descriptions, syllabi, the grading system, and the learning objectives, attendance policy etc.)
  • Promoting effective student learning through assignments and class activities including the use of a variety of instructional techniques designed to meet student needs, promoting active and independent learning, and promoting higher-order thinking
  • Holding classes at the scheduled time for the full period, except for emergency situations
  • Maintaining accurate attendance scholastic records and submitting required reports to meet deadlines, including submission of final grades by the published deadline
  • Participate in accreditation and clinical education activities

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current valid license as a physical therapist or physical therapist assistant in Maryland required upon employment in the position
  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in related field required
  • Graduate of an accredited physical therapist assistant or physical therapist program, or deemed equivalent program required
  • Minimum of 3 years post-licensure current clinical practice
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a CCCE or CI in physical therapy, or a minimum of 2 years of experience in teaching, curriculum development and administration in a PT or PTA program
  • Experience in clinical or educational administration, and human resource management
  • Clinical experience in a variety of settings
  • Demonstrated leadership and teaching experience

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience in teaching PT /PTA students and/or healthcare professionals
  • Current knowledge of associate degree therapy and teaching methodologies
  • Experience in outcomes assessment and program evaluation methodologies
  • Familiarity with community college education

 

Additional Information:

 

This is a 12-month faculty position

Hours Per Week: 37.5 hours
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends
Compensation: Starting salary of $59,000 but commensurate with experience; plus excellent health insurance, paid leave and tuition reimbursement
