Manager of Technical Services

Position Title: Manager of Technical Services

Department/

School: Media Center, Academic Affairs

Job Summary: The Manager of Technical Services recommends acquisition and is responsible for installation, maintenance, and repair of all media equipment. Also, responsible for the technical quality of all video productions. Formulates policies and works with faculty and students to assure the continued proper operation of media equipment. Technical support coverage for special events. The Manager reports to the Director for Media and Instructional Technology, supervises Production Technician and the student aides, and works closely with Media Center staff, faculty and students.

Minimum Qualifications: Associates Degree required and at least three years of electronics training or equivalent experience in television equipment maintenance and repair required. A high degree of computer skills is required; Knowledge of digital workflow, and computer-based television studio equipment is required.

Essential Functions:
  • Classroom AV Design (Standardization) including IP Networking Integration, and Control Systems programming (Extron and Crestron) Oversees Vendor AV installations during Capital improvements.
  • Participates with Director, Media and Instructional Technology to formulate and implement policies that assure the proper operation of all equipment
  • Participates with other staff members and faculty to make recommendations for long-term equipment and facility planning to solve for anticipated demands.
  • Presents purchase recommendations, acquires, and supervises installations of all media equipment
  • Formulates and Implements regular preventative maintenance program for all equipment.
  • Oversees training of Staff, Faculty and Students in all Technical matters.
  • Responsible for technical quality of all video productions and supported campus events.
  • Formulates and Implements regular preventative maintenance program for all equipment.
  • Participates with other staff members and faculty to make recommendations for long-term equipment and facility planning to solve for anticipated demands.
  • Participates with Director, Media and Instructional Technology to formulate and implement policies that assure the proper operation of all equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelors' Degree preferred. Experience in classroom management and television production in Higher Education preferred. CTS/CTS-D Certification preferred. Extron and Crestron programming certification preferred.

About the Department: The Marist College Media Center is responsible for the support of audio/video/visual instructional technologies. The Media Center is focused on serving the needs of the customer by providing them with the opportunity to use technology in effective and efficient ways. This involves providing the tools, making those tools accessible to faculty and staff, and encouraging their use to enrich the learning experience of Marist students.

These services include providing multimedia support for classes and events, distributing and maintaining such equipment, evaluating and implementing new classroom and presentation technologies, supporting distance learning activities as they relate to media presentation, and producing a variety of content for the college, including video and audio productions.
