Assistant Athletic Trainer

Position Title: Assistant Athletic Trainer (Full-Time)

Department: Athletics

Job Summary: The Assistant Athletic Trainer will assist with the daily operations of the Marist College Athletic Training Room, including, but not limited to: injury prevention, evaluation, management, and treatment of athletic injuries, short-term and long-term rehabilitation of athletic injuries, education and counseling of student-athletes, and athletic-related health care administration in consultation with and under the supervision of the Head Athletic Trainer, Team Physician(s) and other qualified medical personal. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will provide daily medical coverage of practices and competitions, both home and away, including some evenings and weekends for the Football and Water Polo Teams, and assisting with other student-athletes.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree from a CAAT-Accredited undergraduate program required. Must possess certification by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (NATABOC). Must possess, or be eligible for, Athletic Training Certification in the State of New York. Must possess current certifications in First Aid/CPR/AED.

Essential Functions:
  • Provide daily medical coverage of practices and competitions, both home and away;
  • Consult with Team Physician(s) for guidance on the treatment of injured student-athletes, and report on their progress;
  • Report the status of injured student-athletes to coaching staffs and periodically meet to identify and discuss problem areas;
  • Assist with the compilation, input, organization, and maintenance of all medical records on college student-athletes, and share in the responsibility of maintaining and organizing the athletic training room file system;
  • Assist with the enforcement of codes of conduct and rules of use for the athletic training facilities and equipment;
  • Share in the responsibility of athletic training room maintenance and upkeep;
  • Advise and direct the athletic training students with regard to any and all duties;
  • Opportunity to serve as Preceptor within the Athletic Training Education Program as directed by the Athletic Training Education Program Director;
  • Assist in the preparation of athletic training students for the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) Examinations; and
  • Other duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Sports Medicine.

Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree in a related field preferred. Preceptor within the Athletic Training Education Program and First Aid/CPR/AED instructor certification preferred. Experience at NCAA Division I athletic program preferred; Division I Football athletic training experience preferred.
