Assistant, Associate or Full Professor (HS Clin, Clin X, Adjunct, In-Residence) Academic Nephrologist

Faculty Position(s) in Nephrology. The Department of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego (http://med.ucsd.edu/) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. The Division of Nephrology-Hypertension is recruiting an academic nephrologist for a faculty position.

Candidate(s) must have an MD and be board certified/board eligible in Nephrology and have or be eligible for a California medical license or or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the California Medical Board.

We seek individuals who have completed training in both general nephrology and a dedicated year of kidney transplant fellowship. Candidates must have experience in nephrology consultation, critical care nephrology including continuous renal replacement therapy modalities, plasmapheresis, invasive procedures, end-stage renal disease care, and experience and track record in clinically oriented research.

Experience in any of the following specialty areas are preferred:

Kidney Transplant:
The Division's kidney transplant program has increased considerably and we seek individuals who have completed training in both general nephrology and a dedicated year of kidney transplant fellowship.

Palliative Care:
With the burden of pain and end-of-life concerns among CKD and ESRD patients, the Division plans to expand its program in CKD palliative care.

Individuals who have completed training in both disciplines are encouraged to apply.

Research:
The Division holds an O'Brien Center/P30 award focused on Acute Kidney Injury (AKI), and is seeking to expand its group of clinician investigators who dedicate their research efforts to understanding new risk factors for AKI. Applicants with this interest will have an established publication track record and evidence of ability to secure independent grant funding in research in AKI.

The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on the University of California pay scales. Appointments may require candidates to be self-funded.
