ABOUT AIC

American International College is a private, coeducational institution of higher education located on a 70+ acre campus in Springfield, Massachusetts. The campus has 42 buildings on two sites approximately 1/2 mile apart with a total of approximately 660,000 gross square feet. Included in the inventory of buildings are student residences for a resident population of 900 students. Founded in 1885, the College has 3700 graduate and undergraduate students. AIC offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs through the Schools of Business, Arts and Sciences; Health Sciences; and Education. Through the development, implementation, and management of programs and services related to teaching and learning, this position supports the delivery of high quality inclusive instruction to our diverse student body. The position works closely with the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs to serve the vision of AIC in providing access, opportunity and an inclusive learning environment. This position supports our faculty, department chairs, and program directors in promoting and supporting innovative and effective teaching practices.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Design and implement programs for both ad-hoc and standard delivery to support faculty development and the use of inclusive, effective, and innovative teaching and learning practices.
  • Engage faculty in the scholarship of teaching and learning, so as to more fully and meaningfully engage students in the act of learning.
  • Provide consultation to individuals and departments on concerns related to effective teaching.
  • Organize weekly, monthly, and annual events focused on innovative and inclusive teaching and learning, resulting in a full portfolio of trainings and continuing education designed to improve the student and faculty experience.
  • Promote effective and inclusive technology use across the curriculum, supporting students' devices, institutional LMS, and other internal and external tools and software packages.
  • Build, maintain, and encourage the use of a physical and virtual collection of teaching and learning resources focused on innovative and inclusive pedagogies and methodologies.
  • Develop faculty peer observation and mentoring programs.
  • Represent AIC in planning and implementation of CCGS faculty development events.
  • Projects and assignments as directed by the EVPAA's office

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Required Degree(s): Bachelor's degree
  • Preferred Degree(s): Master's degree
  • Required Field of Expertise: Education; Curriculum, Instruction, and Design; Instructional Design

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in a team setting
  • Possess project management and change management knowledge
  • Have the ability to plan and organize initiatives and organizational support functions
  • Possess leadership and interpersonal skills

WORK SCHEDULE

This is a full-time, twelve-month, exempt-level, benefits eligible position. Normal office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., flexible to the needs of the department.
