Columbus State University has openings for Instructors in their award winning Activ8 Summer Camp program. Activ8 camps are designed to be fun and facilitate hands-on learning for students ages 4-14 without the pressure of homework, tests, or quizzes. Camps cover a variety of subjects including: performing and visual arts, math, writing, science, sports and outdoors, theater and stage play, fashion, etiquette, gardening, and photography. For a complete list of camps and descriptions, please visit www.active8er.com. Camps take place at the Elizabeth Bradley Turner Center on CSU's main campus, from 9am-12pm OR 1pm-4pm.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities and expectations for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Providing supervision and ensuring safety and accountability for up to 20 campers age 4-14.
- Leading weekly camps of up to 20 campers with the assistance of a Program Aide.
- Create lessons plan and teach camps that adhere to the camp's catalog description.
Required Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include demonstrated experience or study in the subject area and classroom management skills. Selected candidates should have:
- One or more years teaching experience with children ages 4-14
- Demonstrated ability to create lesson plans
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
- Excellent oral communication skills
- Positive outlook and willing to work as a member of the team
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to teachers with Georgia Certification, but is not required.
Proposed Salary
The salary is commensurate with education and experience.
