Assistant or Associate Project Scientist - Surgical Cancer Research

The University of California, San Diego, Department of Surgery (https://medschool.ucsd.edu/som/surgery/Pages/default.aspx) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff and student body and seek to recruit a Project Scientist in the Division of Surgical Oncology.
The scientist will help build a translational research program focused on the study/treatment of appendiceal and other cancers that metastasize to the peritoneal surfaces. The scientist will show committment to research and education, creativity and the ability to innovate.
Candidates must have a PhD in Cancer Biology or related field a Minimum of 5 years postdoctoral experience in cancer related research. The ideal candidate must have demonstrated excellence in cancer research, as demonstrated by their history of training, as an excellent track record of publication and ideally, a record of participation in successful extramural grant application. Candidates must also have skills in developing primary cell lines, patient derived xenografts and in standard molecular biology techniques are required.
Candidates with research experience in the field of gastrointestinal cancer are strongly preferred.
Appointment will be at Assistant or Associate Project Scientist level based on background and years of experience. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales.
