Digital Technologies Librarian

Position Title: Digital Technologies Librarian

Department: Library

Job Summary: Implement, maintain, and evaluate tools, systems and online resources for all Library areas using emerging web technologies and best practices. Work closely with the Marist Community on projects that support their research and learning. Help evaluate and implement systems and services that bring library resources to the Marist Community.

Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in Computer Information Systems, Library/Information Science and 1-3 years of appropriate work experience. Ability to explain technical information to a non-technical audience. Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Essential Functions:
  • Implement, maintain, and evaluate tools, systems and online resources for all Library areas using emerging web technologies and best practices.
  • Work closely with the Marist Community on the development and maintenance of an institutional repository, using Islandora, and other projects that support teaching and learning.
  • Act as the primary liaison between the library and Information Technologies
  • Develop APIs to facilitate communication between systems
  • Troubleshoot third-party software issues
  • Evaluate and deploy software for use for the library.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Exposure to a variety of library technologies (Alma, Springshare)
  • Use of web technologies (HTML, APIs)
  • Understanding of digital scholarship platforms and tools (such as Islandora, Omeka, or ContentDM)
  • Experience curating and promoting an institutional repository
  • Familiarity with EAD (Encoded Archival Description)

About the Department: The James A. Cannavino library at Marist College is truly the heart of campus, both physically and academically.
