Public Affairs and Civic Engagement Coordinator


Salisbury University, a member of the University System of Maryland, is a regionally accredited four-year comprehensive institution offering 60 distinct graduate and undergraduate programs. Located on the historic Eastern Shore, SU's beautiful campus is some 30 miles from the Atlantic beaches and 2.5 hours from Baltimore and Washington, D.C.

Salisbury University is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Administrative Coordinator in the Institute for Public Affairs and Civic Engagement (PACE).

Primary Job Duties: Support and expand PACE programming and initiatives by coordinating the daily operations. Answer and manage PACE email; assist with budget management and oversight. Assist PACE leadership and members of the academic and broader community to coordinate, support and further develop PACE programming. Plan and carry out ongoing trainings, coordination, and preparation for New Student Reflection; schedule and coordinate additional trainings; engage in outreach; provide website oversight with PACE GA. Serve as a PACE presence and/or representative at appropriate campus event; liaise with community members as needed; assist in preparing regular reports including Fulton Exchange, spring "PACE by the numbers," fall annual report, and voting reports; support existing programs including Presidential Citizen Scholars, LLC, and Civic Laureate.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in public policy, public administration, nonprofit management, political science or related field and 3-5 years of related experience or a Master's Degree and 1-3 years of related experience.

Familiarity with concepts of civic engagement generally and PACE programs specifically; training in Civic Reflection. With appropriate qualification (Master's degree or higher) this position may engage in PACE-specific classroom instruction through the PACE LLC.

Must be detail oriented and have excellent interpersonal skills, customer service; organization and planning, prioritization, problem solving, follow through, time management, and oral & written communication skills. Also, must be flexible and possess the ability to successfully handle multiple tasks/projects simultaneously and work well under pressure, independently, and in a team-oriented environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is required. Ability to navigate higher education.

This is a full-time exempt State position with a full benefits package. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
