JOB SUMMARY:

The Associate Director of International Admissions serves as the lead international admissions officer responsible for first-year, transfer, and graduate international student recruitment, admissions and enrollment. This individual takes a central role in the management of Adelphi University's international pathways for entry including direct entry and through the University's partnership with Shorelight Education. A contributor to defining international strategy, the Associate Director of International Admissions is responsible for uncovering and building new markets, developing key relationships with strategic influencers, and expanding reputation and awareness on- and off-shore.

REPORTS TO: Director of Undergraduate Admissions

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  1. Recruit first-year, transfer, graduate and international students to Adelphi University through both on- and off-shore efforts.
  2. Interview and counsel prospective students and families and relate effectively with diverse constituencies including students, faculty, and alumni.
  3. Evaluate domestic and international first-year and transfer applications. Prepare all international graduate files for review by appropriate departments.
  4. Maintain international credential evaluation skills and assist in cross-training admissions staff in credential evaluation and best practices for international student recruitment.
  5. Cultivate prospects via tele-counseling, virtual tools, social media and personalized communication plan.
  6. Represent Adelphi at high school visitations, admissions events, presentations, and college fairs in assigned territories.
  7. Develop early engagement strategies for international students studying in domestic high schools.
  8. Assess international recruitment strategy by utilizing data and trend analysis and support development of strategic enrollment plans.
  9. Develop strong analytics and understanding of metrics related to international enrollment funnel.
  10. Serve as a primary admissions contact for Adelphi University International (AUI) and collaborate on integrated recruitment strategy (both on- and off-shore).
  11. Plan international school counselor and/or student visit programs on- and off-campus. Identify key sponsorship opportunities where appropriate.
  12. Collaborate with other Adelphi international units for a cohesive international student transition and experience (i.e. student visa process, international student orientation, etc.).
  13. Manage design feedback, content verification, and approval of international recruitment marketing materials through both University Communications & Marketing and Adelphi University International.
  14. Create communication strategies to cultivate and yield prospective international students.
  15. Work collaboratively with Directors on day-to-day operations of the Office of University Admissions.
  16. Assist with various admissions tasks and projects as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Excellent interpersonal skills.
  2. Must have a valid driver's license and passport.
  3. Ability to be organized and pay attention to detail.
  4. Ability to prioritize workload according to volume, urgency, etc.
  5. Ability to work extended hours and weekends.
  6. Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  7. Proficiency in foreign language(s) is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Ability to drive or travel to locations in recruiting area.
  2. Ability to work extended hours and weekends.
  3. Ability and willingness to travel abroad.

EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Bachelor's Degree, plus 3+ years of international recruitment and travel experience required.
