Graduate Assistant Coach

Reports To: Director of Athletics & Head Coach/Supervisor
Position Type: Graduate Assistant - 10 Months
Standard Hours: 20 hours / week
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Classification: Support Staff

Summary:
Under the guidelines of Keuka College, the NEAC Conference, and the NCAA, the graduate assistant will report to the Head Coach/Supervisor, the Graduate Assistant is a ten-month position starting August 1, 2019, and is renewable for two consecutive years (two years total). The 2nd year appointment is contingent upon successful completion of GA duties and responsibilities. All GA's must adhere to the MSM graduate program requirements and must be enrolled in MSM graduate coursework in each semester of the appointment. It is also the responsibility of the graduate assistant coach to assure that all Keuka College, NEAC and NCAA rules and regulations are followed. Any violation of Keuka College, NEAC or NCAA rules is prohibited and may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.

Essential Responsibilities:
• Serve as an assistant coach with the varsity program.
• Assist with planning and implementation of practices, scouting, recruiting, video analysis, individual player coaching sessions, equipment, academic monitoring, and athlete fitness programs.
• NCAA and NEAC compliance paperwork.
• Determine individual and team strengths and develop strategies to maximize performance.
• Ensure that appropriate safety precautions are taken in practice, games and during team travel.
• Attend athletics staff meetings.
• Work with administrators and head coach to stay within fiscal and budgetary guidelines.
• Assist in the promotion of the program whenever and wherever possible.
• Responsible for ensuring that assigned tasks are completed in compliance with various institutional and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain a professional and courteous attitude at all times towards co-workers, internal and external customers, representing Keuka College, its programs, policies, and procedures in a positive and professional manner. Maintain effective working relationships to ensure institution-wide teamwork.
• Attend provided/necessary training and other meetings to support effectiveness within the position as required.
• Consistently demonstrate high standards of integrity by supporting the Keuka College mission, vision, and values and adhering to institutional policies.
• Maintain a high regard for student privacy in accordance with the FERPA privacy policies and procedures.
• Regular and reliable attendance is expected and required.
• Perform other functions as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Acceptance into the MSM Graduate Studies Program at Keuka College.
2. Undergraduate experience with junior varsity/varsity athletics.
3. At least 2 years of coaching or playing experience, preferred.
4. Must have time management flexibility and be able to sustain long work hours including evenings, early mornings and weekends.
5. Attention to detail and high standards for quality and ability to respect confidentiality.
6. Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
7. Understand and behave with a high level of integrity and complete confidentiality at all times.
8. Ability to be sensitive to and respond to needs/concerns of students, faculty, college staff and the public.
9. Ability to work under pressure with a high tolerance for interruptions, and the ability to work with diverse groups of people.

Physical Requirements:
• Position requires frequent travel.
• Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
