Duties and Responsibilities
Loyola University Chicago ( LUC ), College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Computer Science invites applications for a full-time, one-year-nonrenewable position at the rank of Instructor for academic year 2019-2020. The department is based at Loyola s Lake Shore Campus on Chicago s far north side and comprises ten tenure-track/tenured faculty; three tenure-track/tenured joint appointees; and three Lecturers. The department serves approximately 450 undergraduate majors and minors, and 100 masters students in the areas of computer science, bioinformatics, cybersecurity, information technology, and software engineering. Teaching duties for the position will be three to four courses per semester at the undergraduate and graduate levels with an emphasis on introductory/core courses and, where applicable, advanced courses related to the candidate s areas of expertise.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess an advanced degree (PhD preferred) in computer science or a related discipline. Candidates must clearly demonstrate the potential for excellence in teaching and have a record of (or clear potential for) distinguished teaching and student mentorship at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and the ability to create new courses in topical computer science areas. We encourage candidates in all areas of computer science to apply but especially encourage those with a strong background and interests in teaching introductory programming classes and in applied areas of computing, including but not limited to artificial intelligence/machine learning, cloud computing, cybersecurity, databases, mobile and pervasive computing/internet of things, software engineering, and systems. Candidates with interdisciplinary backgrounds are also strongly encouraged to apply.
