The Hugh Downs School of Human Communication at Arizona State University invites applications for the position of Instructor. The School seeks to establish a pool of qualified applicants to teach a variety of upper and lower division undergraduate courses in communication during the 2019-20 Academic Year (August 16, 2019 – May 15, 2020). The number of courses and subject matter are contingent upon the needs of the school, funding, and sufficient enrollment. Instructor positions are fixed-term appointments with no tenure implications. Subsequent annual renewal is possible contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of resources, and the needs of the university. Specific start date within the 2019-20 Academic Year will vary based on assigned courses.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Human Communication (not mass or media) by the time of appointment or 2 years graduate coursework in Human Communication
- Demonstrated teaching effectiveness in human communication courses at the university level
- Experience teaching communication courses in an online environment
Desired Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Human Communication by the time of appointment
- Demonstrated success meeting the needs of diverse student populations and/or reaching out to diverse communities.
