The Department of Pathology at the University of California, San Diego (http://pathology.ucsd.edu) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body and seeks an academic hematopathologist to join the Division of Laboratory and Genomic Medicine. Successful candidates must also have significant expertise and experience to share clinical responsibilities for a large, integrated bone marrow, lymph node, and flow cytometry diagnostic service that supports the patient care activities of UC San Diego Health's NCI-designated Moore's Cancer Center, the new $1.2 billion Jacobs Medical Center, and the state-of-the art Center for Advanced Laboratory Medicine in La Jolla, as well as our regional referral/outreach program and expanding clinical integration network.

Candidates with demonstrated interest in the development and application of molecular, cytogenetic, genomic, and epigenomic diagnostic approaches to benign and malignant hematologic disorders , with evidence of scholarly contributions in clinical, translational and/or basic research are encouraged to apply. Resources are available to support investigators who seek to establish an independent research program with extramural funding.

Candidates must have a MD (or equivalent) or MD/PhD (or equivalent). Candidates must have California medical license, and be Board Certified/Board Eligible by the American Board of Pathology in either clinical pathology or anatomic pathology/clinical pathology, with subspecialty certification in hematopathology. Teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows is also required.

Additional subspecialty training in molecular genetic pathology, clinical cytogenetics, or he matopoetic progenitor stem cell processing/therapy is preferred.

Appointment will be at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor levels. Series will be determined by the successful candidate's skills and qualifications. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales.
