Position/Job Summary

The Biology Department at Ithaca College (located in Ithaca, NY) seeks applicants with expertise in comparative anatomy for a full-time, non-tenure-eligible appointment at the Assistant Professor level. The position will begin on August 16, 2019. This is a three-year, renewable contract. The primary responsibility is to coordinate and teach Primary Human Anatomy, a large course and associated labs for allied health students. The faculty member in this position will also teach courses for biology majors and non-majors in accordance with the faculty member's expertise and the needs of the department. Teaching responsibilities are anticipated to total 12 contact hours in each of fall and spring semesters

Position/Job Qualifications

A PhD in Comparative Anatomy or a related field, plus significant college-level teaching experience is desirable. A master's degree or ABD with substantial college-level teaching experience will be considered. Successful candidates will demonstrate excellent communication, teaching, and organization skills. A track record of effective teaching in large lecture courses and courses for non-biology majors is a plus. Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to teach in ways that value the varied learning needs and interests of a culturally diverse student population, and in ways that reflect a commitment to encouraging the success of all students. We also seek candidates who have relevant experience and/or a record of professional engagement with groups and communities historically underrepresented in higher education. We especially encourage candidates who are members of underrepresented groups to apply.
