Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching:
Demonstrates enthusiasm for teaching with a proven record of effective teaching.
Employs a variety of innovative teaching techniques to promote critical thinking and achieve course outcomes.
Teaches assigned courses primarily in the undergraduate programs.
Teaches Pediatric courses, but additional instructional areas, consistent with expertise and background, may be included in responsibilities.
Exemplifies a clearly developed philosophy of and pedagogy toward teaching consistent with the values of the University and School of Nursing.
Maintains certification in an area of specialty expertise, if applicable.

Scholarship:
Supports the research/scholarly mission of the School and/or University.
Demonstrates ability to successfully conduct research/scholarly projects consistent with educational preparation.
Has a defined area of content expertise and interest in scholarly activities.
Disseminates research/scholarship to students through teaching, and publication of clinically or educationally based journal articles and presentations.

Service:
Actively serves as a member of MNSON committees and/or task forces.
Participates in University and MNSON activities.
Participates in community outreach activities that promote health.
Attends MNSON and University events.
Attends and assists at conferences or workshops involving MNSON or University at local level.
Maintains availability to students for coaching and mentoring.

Minimum Education and/or Work Experience
Required qualifications include: Minimum of a master s degree in nursing for the Instructor rank. A doctorate (PhD in nursing or DNP ) is preferred and required for the Assistant Professor rank.

Post-secondary teaching experience commensurate with appointment at the rank of non-tenure track Instructor or higher and commitment to research and scholarly endeavors, consistent with the rank. Content expertise in pediatric nursing is required.

Essential qualifications include recent teaching experience in classroom, clinical, or laboratory settings, at the undergraduate level in the area of pediatric nursing, and one or more related areas, such as foundations or leadership.

Licensure in the state of Illinois as a Registered Nurse or Eligible for Illinois RN licensure(s)

Certification in specialty area preferred
