American International College is a private, coeducational institution of higher education located on a 70+ acre campus in Springfield, Massachusetts. JOB INTRODUCTION

American International College is launching new Bachelor of Science in General Business and Bachelor of Arts in Social Science online degree programs. This posting is a pool recruitment for online teaching positions that may become available in a variety of disciplines as the programs grow.

We are seeking qualified instructors with preferably 2-3 years of previous online teaching experience in the discipline in which you are applying. If you are offered a course, you will be required to attend and pass an asynchronous, 3-week online faculty training course that has weekly assignments and engagement requirements in order to be eligible to teach for AIC Online.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Teach assigned course as specified in the course contract; Develop student engagement through leading discussions which foster student interaction and increase depth of understanding of the subject matter; Provide students an approved syllabus that includes course objectives and learning outcomes, utilizing the College's learning management system to post syllabus, assignments and other materials and to communicate with students.
  • Prepare and Post grades and provide feedback to students for assignments within 4 days of submission deadline.
  • Be available and flexible to meet with students by phone, email, or video conferencing tools; including during evening and weekend hours, as dictated by student needs. Respond to student e-mails, questions, and comments within 24 hours.
  • Adhere to AIC's academic policies and procedures, e.g. class attendance, grading, withdrawal from courses, academic dishonesty, etc.
  • Notify Advisor of any student concerns through the AIC Connect early alert system

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Required Degree(s): Master's degree in appropriate field
  • Preferred Field of Expertise: Two to three years' experience teaching adult learners online in higher education preferred. A professional commitment to student-centered learning with a record of successful teaching, mentoring and coaching of adult learners
  • Required Training/Cert: Must attend 3-week Online Faculty Training and earn a score of 85% or higher in order to be eligible to teach for AIC Online

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to use technology effectively in teaching; ie; experience using Microsoft Office Suite, Blackboard, and the instructional use of technology to teach traditional, hybrid or on-line courses, as needed.
  • Current knowledge of the relevant discipline.
  • Strong commitment to high-quality instruction in a diverse, student-centered environment and the ability to work with students with various learning styles and backgrounds.
  • Committed to a culture of diversity, respect and inclusion; demonstrated ability to build working relationships with people having a wide variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences.
  • Good organizational skills and timeliness in responding to student inquiries.
  • Ability to deliver course outcomes and content through a variety of teaching/learning styles.

WORK SCHEDULE

This is a part-time adjunct, non-benefited position.
