JOB SUMMARY:

Counsel and assist students and parents with their outstanding indebtedness to the University. Research, review and make necessary adjustments on past due student accounts.

REPORTS TO: Director of Student Account Services

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  1. Review refunds that are generated if a credit exits on a student's account. Refunds are reviewed for: Accuracy of Tuition and University fees, Financial Aid postings, Special program discounts, Drop/add course proration and Refund is then vouchered and approved by authorized Administrators.
  2. Counsel and prepare Note & Disclosure for students on payment plans for their outstanding balances.
  3. Provide counseling for students relating to debt management.
  4. Complete daily assignments given by supervisor.
  5. Follow-up on collection schedules relating to outstanding receivables on a daily basis.
  6. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  2. Ability to work effectively in stressful situations with students, other departments, and outside collection agencies.
  3. Ability to be organized and pay attention to detail.
  4. Ability to effectively manage several projects in addition to daily responsibilities.
  5. Ability to prioritize workload according to urgency, volume, etc.
  6. Knowledge of accounts receivable, financial aid policies and procedures and Title IV regulations.
  7. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel.
EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Associate's Degree (preferred) or minimum 2 years job-related experience in accounts receivable, collections, bursar, financial aid and debt management.
