Assistant Director of Annual Giving ? Student Engagement

Position Title: Assistant Director of Annual Giving - Student Engagement

Department: Office of Advancement

Job Summary: The Office of College Advancement at Marist College seeks an Assistant Director of Annual Giving - Student Engagement to oversee the Student Phonathon program, senior class gift, and student philanthropy education in support of annual giving initiatives. S/he will also be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to ensure annual fundraising targets are met.

Reporting to the Director of Annual Giving, the Assistant Director will oversee Student Phonathon callers and supervisors, establish calling schedules, and set shift goals. S/he will provide daily/nightly supervision of student employees, communicate results to the Marist Fund team, and facilitate the pledge reminder and stewardship processes. This position is also responsible for a senior class gift campaign and committee as well as developing and managing a student philanthropy education program, including working with a group of student volunteers who will serve as alumni ambassadors.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required. Knowledge of phonathon programs and software and/or direct marketing strategies; excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communications skills; ability to represent the college effectively; demonstrated ability to relate with current students; ability to attend college functions during and after normal business hours. Must have a flexible schedule and the ability to work evening hours regularly. Must possess a valid driver's license with no serious convictions.

Essential Functions: • Conduct the daily management of the Student Phonathon Program, including the recruitment, training, and supervision of 25+ student employees, maintain up to date knowledge and implementation skills for the calling software; write and update calling scripts and related materials throughout each semester to meet the needs and goals of the annual giving program.

• Generate, maintain, and analyze daily and weekly Phonathon reports on calling shifts and statistical data to inform decisions related to the Phonathon calling program, including efforts to close unfulfilled pledges, upgrade previous donors, and secure credit card gifts. Assist with segmentation and pipeline recommendations related to the calling program.

• Monitor the quality of each caller contacts with prospects and make the necessary adjustments as needed as well as develop and implement effective motivational techniques.

• In an effort to build a pipeline of future donors, develop and lead a comprehensive engagement effort that fosters a culture of philanthropy among Marist students working with departments across campus to educate student campus leaders on the impact of fundraising at Marist.

• Coordinate all efforts of student volunteer management including student philanthropy ambassadors, senior legacy giving program, and other activities that support and encourage student philanthropic engagement with the College.

• Working with the annual giving team, oversee a student alumni ambassador club that educates members on the value of the alumni network and provides them with the opportunity to represent the student body at Advancement events, while providing alumni with the chance to interact with current students.

• Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks and special projects as requested.

• Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications: Preference given to candidates with previous experience as a student Phonathon worker and/or experience in fundraising.
