Job Purpose
Teach bassoon and other courses in the School of Music.

Essential Functions
Teach bassoon and courses in an additional area depending on departmental needs and candidate qualifications. Preferred: music history, music theory. Rehearse and perform as Principal Bassoon with the resident Bryan Symphony Orchestra and Cumberland Quintet. Recruit students (especially bassoon majors). Other teaching responsibilities will be assigned as determined by candidate's qualifications and departmental needs. Build and maintain professional relationships with secondary school music teachers. Active in service for the School of Music and the University.

Minimum Qualifications
Doctorate or ABD from an accredited institution in a related field. Master's degree with significant professional experience in performing and teaching bassoon will also be considered.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience as a performer of solo, orchestral, and chamber literature. Experience as a teacher at the university level, in private instruction, and/or in the secondary schools. Evidence of successful recruiting.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Salary commensurate with education and experience. Full time, nine month, tenure-track position to begin August 2019.
