Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare news releases, website content, social media posts, media pitches, talking points, op-eds and other written material in support of university public relations and marketing initiatives.

Support and coordinate activities associated with the creation and execution of short-term and long-term external communication plans and the university's crisis communication plan.

Manage and monitor multiple university social media platforms; post news and events on AUM's primary social media accounts.

Alert department management to issues and potential crises from a media relations perspective.

Manage development of e-newsletter reaching students, faculty, staff and alumni.

Assist with the development and maintenance of a media database and faculty/staff experts guide for external media.

Coordinate media relations activities, including development of media pitches and contact between media representatives and university faculty/staff.

Maintain electronic repository of print and broadcast stories pertaining to AUM.

Secure photography, video and other multimedia assets to support news releases or pitches.

Support strategies for communicating information about AUM's quality, programming, events and achievements to key stakeholders through print, online and broadcast media.

Support Office of Communications through representation on various university committees as required.

Supplement media training for administrators, faculty and staff.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Exceptional knowledge of grammar, spelling, proper usage, and AP style
Exceptional knowledge of established media publication standards and techniques
Exceptional knowledge of social media applications and best practices
Exceptional written and oral communication skills
Knowledge of policies and procedures related to department

Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor's Degree in public relations, communications, marketing, English or related area and four (4) years of related work experience.
