Job Purpose
Provide support for the mechanical engineering program improvement and accreditation (ABET, SACS, MS and PhD program reviews). Increase the visibility of the M.E. Department and its positive image among prospective and current students, employers, alumni, campus community, and the general public.
Essential Functions
Provide support for the mechanical engineering program improvement and accreditation (ABET, SACS, MS and PhD program reviews). Responsible for communications, outreach, and public relations for enhancing the visibility of the ME program including the use of social media to spotlight the department. Advise student organizations with the planning of social, cultural, educational and recognition programs as part of an existing series or new events as needed. Support student organizations, alumni groups and departmental/college/university committees. Assist with the departmental SOAR activities. Meet with prospective students for on campus visits. Maintain the M.E. Departmental website. Assist the Office Coordinator with events such as Baja SAE races and ASME E-Fest conventions.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Business, Communications, or related field and three years of related experience. In-depth knowledge of computers and software. Experience in maintaining and updating websites and social media sites. Ability to analyze and report data in readable form with graphs and graphics. Evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Three years of software related experience (Banner, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, ARGOS). Two years of experience in communications and/or public outreach. Two years of general business experience. Ability to plan and organize outreach and educational campaigns. Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and alumni from a diverse background.
Work Hours
Typical hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Additional hours if/when needed. Occasional travel to Outreach Events required.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary Commensurate with education and experience; Administrative Pay Grade AD41.
