Duties and Responsibilities
The Department of Health Informatics and Data Sciences and the Center for Health Outcomes and Informatics Research ( CHOIR ) at Loyola University Chicago seek outstanding applicants to fill two tenure-track faculty positions at the assistant/associate professor level.

The Department of Health Informatics and Data Sciences is one of four departments hosted in the brand new Parkinson School of Health Sciences and Public Health (https://www.chicagobusiness.com/education/loyola-scores-big-grant-new-health-school). It is a highly multidisciplinary department with a strong focus on using informatics approaches and data science to improve health outcomes and reduce health disparities.

CHOIR , a part of Loyola University Chicago s Health Sciences Division, serves to educate and engage clinical faculty, healthcare professionals, resident physicians and health sciences students in the fundamentals of health outcomes research and data-driven healthcare delivery. CHOIR s primary objective is to create a data-driven culture in the service of improved outcomes and health equity. CHOIR is a core strategic collaboration between Loyola University Chicago Health Sciences and Loyola University Health System in their shared mission of education, research and service to others. In the Jesuit tradition, the phrase Cura Personalis speaks to Loyola s distinctive person-centered approach to education.

Qualifications
We are especially interested in applicants with expertise in machine learning/deep learning and other data science methodologies, network science, and applications to areas that are relevant to the Department and to CHOIR . Candidates with expertise in natural language processing of clinical notes, data integration, and EHR integration are strongly encouraged to apply. As the department is developing its graduate programs, we welcome applicants who will contribute to develop related coursework in biomedical informatics and precision public health.

The ideal candidate at the assistant professor level will demonstrate potential for developing a strong independent research program and securing extramural funding. At the associate professor level, the ideal candidate will have an established research program with consistent federal funding.

The selected candidate will join and work with a robust and highly innovative team that will define the cutting edge of biomedical informatics research. They will build strong collaborations with healthcare professionals at the institution, in the region, and nationally. Applicants must have a doctoral degree in biomedical informatics, computer science, biostatistics, or epidemiology, or related field.
