Job Purpose
The primary responsibility of this position is academic support for undergraduate students. Advisors contribute to the mission of the Office of Enrollment Management and Career Placement (EMCP) by performing general duties including: advising undergraduate students on academic requirements and policies; advising students in the development and completion of their academic and career goals; participating in various student success programs and initiatives; working with the Office of New Student & Family Programs for the effective registration and orientation of new freshmen and new transfer students participating in the orientation program.

Essential Functions
Advise students on appropriate course selection towards graduation requirements. Run degree audits for advisees and discuss progression toward graduation. Utilize technological solutions provided by the university to appropriately ascertain students' progress and success. Counsel students on all relevant areas such as university policies and procedures, major decision-making, scholastic standards, transfer credit issues, and other appropriate areas. Assist students during the university's freshman orientation program, as well as transfer orientation. Maintain regular contact with advisees via multiple communication sources to develop and foster appropriate accountability for student success. Collaborate with other offices to connect students to resources needed for student success (Financial Aid, Learning Support, Career Development, etc.) Other duties as assigned. Some in-state travel is required.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Counseling, Education, Engineering, or appropriate related field. Three years of experience working with students in a higher education setting or other educational setting. Ability to relate professionally to diverse students, university faculty, administrators, and support staff. Demonstrated proficiency in common business applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, email, and web applications. Evidence of ability to work independently and collaboratively. Excellent communication skills (oral & written), interpersonal skills, and computer skills. Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and presentation skills. Evidence of commitment to detail and ability to complete complex projects/reports in a timely manner.

Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited program. Knowledge of NACADA standards.

Work Hours
Typical hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Additional hours if/when needed.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Commensurate with education and experience. Administrative Pay Grade AD42.
Benefits Information
Benefits include the accumulation of two vacation days per month and one sick leave day per month, and thirteen (13) University holidays. Other benefits include medical and life insurance (shared cost with the university), retirement, optional 401k, and educational benefits.
