The School of Historical, Philosophical, and Religious Studies at Arizona State University (ASU) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar in the undergraduate certificate program in Political History and Leadership with an anticipated start in Fall 2019.  Preference will be given to candidates whose research and teaching focuses on political and/or economic history in Europe or America from 1500-1815. This is a full time (1.0) benefits-eligible, fiscal year (July 1-June 30) appointment. Renewal is possible on an annual basis contingent on satisfactory performance, availability of resources, and needs of the program. 

The successful candidate will be affiliated with the Program in Political History and Leadership to teach History undergraduate courses and to help with program development. The position carries a 2-2 teaching load. In addition the successful candidate will be expected to contribute a minimum of 10 hours per week to active participation in the activities of the program. 

Required qualification:  candidates must have a Ph.D. in History or a field relevant to political or economic history by the time of the appointment

Desired qualifications: evidence of achievement and promise in research and writing in political or economic history, a demonstrated ability to teach introductory and upper level undergraduate courses, in different settings—classroom, online, and hybrid environments. Demonstrated success meeting the needs of diverse student populations and/or reaching out to diverse communities.
