IT Support Manager

Position Title: IT Support Manager

Department: Information Technology

Job Summary: The IT Support Manager directs and coordinates the day to day Data Center and Help Desk activities:
  • Provides IT Support backup coverage plans for planned or unplanned time away
  • Basic IT budget planning & management IT Infrastructure Support Uptime of all Marist production systems and servicesincluding mainframe, LAN-based, systems and applications
  • The ability to troubleshoot typical IT infrastructure issues and work with hardware vendors to resolve outages

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or six years of experience as a Data Center Operations and Help Desk supervisor. Experience may be substituted for degree. Supervisory experience strong preferred.

Valid driver's license required.

Essential Functions:
  • Coordinate shift activities, ensure coverage, and supervise professional Data Center / Helpdesk staff
  • Manage user accounts, keep track of changes, and perform onboarding/off boarding procedures along with new employee Oversee training of professional and student employees
  • Provide coverage for Help Desk and Data Center if staff is if unavailable, which will require work outside of normal working hours
  • Responsible for facilities including infrastructure planning and maintenance for Data Center, remote Data Centers, Help Desk, and off-site storage areas, including environments, physical, security and safety
  • Coordinate vendor activities including preventative maintenance.
  • Monitor production services for potential problems, provide first-line determination and execute corrective action.
  • Proactive in defect and repairs.
  • Be on-call at all times for emergencies which cause service outages
  • Serve as an initial point of contact for the Office of Safety and Security.
  • Manage inventory of hardware, systems, services, supplies and assist with budget planning.
  • Have a thorough working knowledge on critical procedures and assist with development of new ones to accommodate new technologies: Ensure reliable recovery of all IT systems in the event of a disaster and the application of systems analysis techniques and procedures including consulting with users, to determine hardware, software, or functional specifications.
  • Work closely across multiple departments on IT-related initiatives and projects
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of systems and process
  • Provide graceful reaction to high-priority requests with little or no notice, providing clear documentation and follow-through
  • Develop and enhance cooperative interdepartmental and vendor relationships and communications functional
  • Be a user/customer advocate to IT
  • Other duties as assigned.
