Development Officer--Institutional Advancement

Job Summary/Basic Function:

JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for directing the college’s fundraising and philanthropic efforts.

MAJOR DUTIES

• Forms and leverages relationships with key funding sources such as corporate and foundation donors.
• Develops an effective program for the involvement of major gift donors that includes recognition and stewardship.
• Works closely with the Vice President of Institutional Advancement, the President, department heads and faculty in order to provide counsel and coordination for the college’s development efforts.
• Works in conjunction with the Alumni Affairs and Annual Fund Administrator in managing alumni donors and in the execution of the annual giving effort.
• Identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards donors for the college with a focus on major gifts.
• Organizes on- and off-campus donor cultivation and recognition events.
• Completes a variety of projects and reports as assigned; products communication tools, proposals and reports.
• Plans and implements fundraising and development programs.
• Manages a database of donors and prospective donors; designs successful cultivation and solicitation strategies for those donors.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

Salary is $55,093.92

Minimum Qualifications:

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION

• Knowledge of development and fundraising program management principles.
• Knowledge of best practices in the development and implementation of capital campaigns.
• Knowledge of marketing principles and methods.
• Knowledge of the principles and practices involved in the solicitation and securing of major gifts.
• Skill in collaborating with multiple constituents.
• Skill in the operation of computers and job related software programs.
• Skill in decision making and problem solving.
• Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
• Skill in oral and written communication.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.
• Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for two years.
