The University of California, San Diego, Department of Pediatric invites applications for a pediatric hematologist/oncologist physician-scientist at the Associate or full Professor level in the area of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology to be part of a vibrant community for Hematology/Oncology research. This is broadly interpreted to include individuals in the fields of Oncology, Cancer Biology, Immuno-Oncology, and Hematology.

The Pediatric Hematology/Oncology division includes 18 faculty, seven fellows, and seven nurse practitioners where over 200 new oncology patients are seen annually in the center. There are comprehensive clinics and programs for Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation, Hemophilia, Sickle Cell Disease & Hemoglobinopathies, Long Term Follow-up of Cancer Survivors, Cancer Genetics, and Neuro-Oncology. There is a well-developed Psychosocial Program, which includes psychologists, social workers, child life specialists, and parent liaisons. We are members of the UC San Diego NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, COG, CTN, BCC, and PNOC, and have an Alliance with the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital for conducting joint research.

Rady Children's Hospital San Diego is a 551-bed facility that provides comprehensive tertiary and quaternary care, and serves patients from San Diego, Imperial, and South Riverside Counties. The second floor of the 279,000-square foot acute care hospital is exclusively dedicated to Hematology, Oncology, and Bone Marrow Transplantation. Rady Children's Hospital San Diego is the primary teaching hospital for the UCSD Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program , the Pediatric Residency Program, and the Department of Pediatrics at the UCSD School of Medicine.

The successful candidate will be expected to:
1) build and maintain a high quality, extramurally-funded research program
2) achieve excellence in the teaching of medical and graduate students
3) provide clinical care to Pediatric Hematology/Oncology patients
4) provide service to the University and academic community at a level commensurate with his/her career stage, and
5) contribute to the maintenance of a collegial and collaborative academic environment.

Candidates must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree, California medical license, and be Board Certified/Board Eligible, postdoctoral experience, and a track record of research excellence. The level of appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Series will include 50% Ladder Rank / 50% In-Residence with secured extramural funding. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on the University of California pay scales.
