Duties and Responsibilities:
The College of Business at Auburn University at Montgomery is currently looking for a dynamic individual that will continuously motivate our creative learners through to program completion. This position will assist with the development, implementation, and evaluation of activities designed to increase student retention, persistence, and completion of their undergraduate degree.

The Student Support & Retention Specialist position provides non-academic support to students that promote student persistence and degree completion. This person is responsible for coordinating activities to enhance the student experience and support degree/career success. This includes collaborating on student orientations, career readiness assessments, professional development workshops/activities, career fairs, transfer students, first-year experience and graduation and matriculation requirements.

The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

• Providing a personal and concierge-level experience to introduce new students to experiences offered by the college such as career development, student organizations, etc.

• Providing exceptional, tier one technical and customer support.

• Delivering retention contact strategies and build a supportive relationship with students.

• Providing reminder services to keep students on track and help them stay engaged.

• Encouraging students to sign up for professional development activities and other programming to assist them in progressing to a career.

• Tracking all retention activity and other student data to show progress towards goals and help with College of Business strategic planning.

• Capturing student feedback to help improve the student experience.

• Participating in staff meetings and training sessions.

• Sharing innovative ideas and insights to help the team grow and provide a better overall learning experience through the entire student life-cycle.

• Collaborating to promote the College of Business at university recruiting events.

• Organizing and promoting the College of Business Fairs, Professional Development Workshops, Business Week, Professional Dress Days and periodic student socials.

• Maintaining a monthly newsletter to all a registered College of Business students to keep them aware of opportunities on campus and within the community.

• Promoting the use of College of Business professional development tools.

• Assisting in professional development activities for students such as the resume submission and review process.

• Performing other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of acceptable basic management practices
Knowledge of applicable institutional practices and procedures
Knowledge of limited budgeting principles and practices
Knowledge of applicable University practices and procedures
Interpersonal skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills through all forms of communication channels to include phone, text, and email
Strong expertise with MS Office, specifically Word and Excel with the ability to be efficient in learning new software
Ability to be adaptable in a fast-paced dynamic environment
Ability to be goal oriented and competitive in setting and achieving personal and team goals
Ability to connect quickly and authentically with people from a variety of different professional and cultural backgrounds
Ability to maintain flexibility regarding working hours (evenings and some weekends) as needed to accommodate the needs/availability of students for College of Business and University functions and activities
Ability to quickly become a program expert through continuous process and product knowledge improvement, while representing the university and supporting new and continuing students
Ability to maintain compliance with all relevant rules and regulations, including FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) regulations
Ability to speak in public, lead small group meetings, and make presentations
Ability to work on multiple projects at one time and respond to multiple competing demands
Ability to use a computer and relevant software applications
Ability to manage project activities
Ability to coordinate the work of others
Ability/Willingness to have a strong work ethic and positive attitude
Ability/Willingness to help the College of Business build a culture that's genuine, proactive, effective and fun.

Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor's Degree in a related area, and four (4) years of related work experience in preferably student services and retention.
Education can be substituted for experience.

The desired candidate will have experience in higher education recruitment, partnership development, and customer service.
