Assistant Professor: Interdisciplinary Health

The School of Social Work at San Diego State University has one tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor rank available for Fall 2019. The School offers both BSW and MSW degree programs, and a BA in Gerontology. The graduate program provides advanced concentrations in Direct Practice and in Administration and Community Development. The School, in conjunction with the Division of Global Public Health, University of California, San Diego (UCSD) offers a Joint Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Research on Substance Use. Assistant Professor Position: Expertise is sought in health, interdisciplinary/integrated health, and/or health disparities research. A suitable candidate will have the ability to teach Direct Practice or Macro courses and will have demonstrated research expertise regarding the above-listed areas. Teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels is strongly desired. A candidate must show promise in obtaining extra-mural funds. An MSW and a doctorate in social work or a related field are required from a CSWE accredited institution, along with two years post-MSW direct practice or macro experience. A commitment to working in a multi-cultural environment with students from diverse backgrounds is desired. The SDSU School of Social Work is located near the Mexican border and in a large metropolitan area with a wide range of diverse communities which include newly arrived immigrants and refugees from many countries and centuries-old Native American tribes and bands. A candidate must have the ability to develop working relationships with our community partners and university colleagues in order to conduct research which contributes to the scholarly literature on interdisciplinary health practice.
