Assistant Professor: Human Resources Management

The Department of Management in the Fowler College of Business at San Diego State University (SDSU) invites applications for a tenure-track position in Human Resource Management at the Assistant Professor level for Fall 2019. SDSU values high quality teaching and scholarship. Relatedly, the primary emphasis of the position is on conducting high quality Human Resources (HR) scholarship, teaching HR courses (e.g., compensation, performance management) to support the undergraduate HR specialization, and assisting with co-curricular activities such as the SDSU Society for Human Resource Management student chapter. Graduate level teaching may be expected depending upon demand. Filling this position will be contingent upon state funding.

Applicants should have completed a Ph.D. in Human Resource Management or related area by August 2019. Applicants with equivalent degrees in other disciplines with relevant teaching and research may also apply. Well-qualified applicants will have demonstrated both high quality human resource management research with publications in top-tier journals and evidence of excellence in teaching human resource management courses at the undergraduate level. It also would be beneficial for the candidate to be prepared to support the Institute for Inclusiveness and Diversity in Organizations in their research efforts (see https://business.sdsu.edu/iido).

The recently named Fowler College of Business enrolls approximately 5,600 undergraduate business majors and 460 graduate students pursuing both the MBA and Master of Science degrees. The Management Department offers undergraduate specializations in management, human resource management, and entrepreneurship and graduate specializations in management and entrepreneurship. The Department of Management enrolls approximately 1,200 undergraduate and graduate student majors. The Management faculty includes seventeen tenured and tenure-track faculty members and several part-time lecturers.
