Assistant Professor: Geotechnical Engineering

The Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering at San Diego State University (SDSU) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the area of Geotechnical Engineering. Applicants should have a demonstrated record of excellence and/or show exceptional promise for high-quality research, teaching, and professional development in geotechnical engineering that could contribute to one or more of the following areas: (a) soil dynamics and geotechnical earthquake engineering, (b) geoenvironmental engineering, (c) energy-related geotechnics, and (d) reservoir / deep strata geomechanics.

Applicants must hold a B.S. in Civil Engineering or closely related discipline, and an Ph.D. in Civil Engineering with a Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering, or Geomechanics specialty, by the date of hire, and should be active researchers who will develop and maintain an extramurally supported research program, publish and disseminate research findings, and serve as leaders at the forefront of their field. The candidate is expected to instruct and mentor undergraduate and graduate students in the classroom and in research.

The Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering department is one of the four departments in the College of Engineering at SDSU with EAC, ABET-accredited B.S. degree programs, as well as M.S. and Ph.D. programs (the latter is offered in conjunction with the University of California, San Diego through the Joint Doctoral Program).
