Assistant Professor: Financial Accounting

The Charles W. Lamden School of Accountancy (School) at San Diego State University (SDSU) invites applications for an assistant professor, tenure-track position beginning Fall 2019. This position is contingent upon state funding. Applicants must have completed a Ph.D. or DBA in accounting or business administration before August 2019. Relevant professional certification is desirable. Candidates are expected to:


  • Perform high quality academic research in the areas of financial or managerial accounting.
  • Engage in teaching excellence at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels in the areas of financial or managerial accounting.
  • Engaging effectively with the business community



The SDSU Fowler College of Business is among the nation's oldest and largest AACSB accredited business schools. Its accomplished faculty and highly ranked academic programs provide an exceptional foundation for an institution with significant regional, national and international impact. The Fowler College of Business enrolls approximately 5,500 undergraduate and about 500 graduate students.

The Charles W. Lamden School of Accountancy is AACSB Accounting accredited with approximately 1,000 undergraduate students and 100 graduate students. The School's academic programs are a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) - Accounting Major, Master of Science in Accountancy (MSA), and a combined 4+1 degree program (BMACC). The School's faculty includes 16 tenure-track faculty as well as several full- and part-time lecturers. Support for research includes access to databases (e.g., WRDS), funding for approved projects through grant programs, graduate student research assistants, and a research budget for conference travel and items/data supporting research.
