Assistant Professor: Algorithm and Computation

The Department of Computer Science is seeking to hire a tenure-track Assistant Professor with expertise in theory of computation, beginning fall 2019. Sub-areas include algorithms, parallel and distributed algorithms, formal methods, formal verification, information theory, quantum computation, machine learning, computational biology, and computational robotics, etc. Strong candidates in other research areas will also be considered. Candidates are expected to be able to teach computer science theory courses and advanced graduate/undergraduate courses in the candidates' expertise. Candidates must have a PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field. A strong record of scholarship is required. Candidates are expected to establish and grow an externally funded research program.

The department is home to faculty who are principal investigators of multimillion-dollar grants from NIH, NSF, etc. The department encourages collaborative interdisciplinary research with faculty members from other departments. We offer Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Computer Science. Faculty members can be Ph.D. student advisors through the Computational Sciences SDSU-UC Irvine Joint Doctoral Program.
