Position Summary: The Teaching and Learning Librarian leads and manages the library instruction program and reference services.


Duties and Responsibilities: Provides library instruction through teaching library instruction sessions, interactions via the online learning management system, and creation of instructional materials Promotes the library instruction program to faculty, staff, and administration. Leads in the planning and coordinating of library services for distance education students and faculty, including campus and site locations, dual enrollment, and online. Defines goals for and outcomes of the library instruction program. Assesses the success of individual learning experiences as well as the instruction program as a whole. Coordinates, creates, and maintains library instructional materials for library staff. Manages, trains, and supports library specialists. Coordinates marketing and outreach of library services to students, faculty, and staff. Assists in the creation, design, and maintenance of library web content. Provides reference service, including nights and occasional weekends. Completes recordkeeping obligations in a timely and professional manner. Participates in collection development. Engages in professional development activities to stay up-to-date with approaches, trends, technology, and software related to duties. Participates in service to the college by serving on library and college committees and attending faculty meetings and college events. Participates in service to the community and/or academic discipline. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications: M.L.S. or equivalent degree from an institution accredited by the American Library Association.

Preferred Qualifications: One-year experience in an academic library. One-year professional librarian experience. Evidence of proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience teaching in a library, higher education, or corporate environment. Ability to create online learning objects, such as tutorials and videos, using a variety of software and technologies. Knowledge of trends and best practices in information literacy, pedagogy, and instructional technologies.

Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to create and maintain web pages using a content management system. Ability to navigate a learning management system. Analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot issues within library systems. Commitment to ongoing professional development to stay abreast of current issues and trends in library instruction, pedagogy, and instructional technologies. Flexibility, open-mindedness, and the ability to function in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment. Knowledge of web accessibility and/or universal design principles.

Pay Rate: 41,200.00 - 51,500.00 annual salary depending on experience
