Clinical Assistant Professor/Assessment Specialist

Position Title: Clinical Assistant Professor/Assessment Specialist

Academic School: Physician Assistant Program, School of Science

Job Summary: The Physician Assistant Program at Marist College is seeking a highly qualified individual to serve as the Assessment Specialist with assessment, didactic teaching, academic advising, and admissions responsibilities. The successful candidate will join a highly collaborative team that is establishing a strong, successful Physician Assistant Program, which recently achieved a 100% PANCE pass rate for its first graduating cohort. The program is housed in a new facility appointed with state-of-the-art teaching spaces including a simulation suite and traditional gross anatomy lab.

Minimum Qualifications: The College seeks a physician assistant or other graduate level trained candidate with proven experience in assessment of student learning and ensuring compliance with ARC-PA standards. The successful candidate will, preferably, have 1-3 years' teaching experience in a higher education setting, demonstrate effective communication and collaborative skills in a team-oriented environment, and a history of successful time management.

Essential Functions:
  • Ensure compliance with ARC-PA standards
  • Monitor effectiveness of PA program design of appropriate assessment instruments and collection, analysis, and interpretation of data on student learning outcomes
  • Assist Program Director and faculty with planning and implementation of evidence-based program improvements to address areas of weakness
  • Teach didactic courses appropriate to expertise
  • Academic advising of students
  • Participate in the admission process including application review and interviewing
  • Provides ongoing monitoring of student performance and identifies students at risk
  • Contributes in committee meetings from the perspective of program assessment
  • Maintain licensure and/or certification

Special Applicant Requirements: Requirements for PA applicant:
  • Master's degree from an ARC-PA accredited program
  • Current NCCPA certification
  • Current license or eligibility for licensing as a physician assistant in the State of New York
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience (primary care), preferred
  • Program evaluation and student assessment experience and demonstrated ability to comply with accreditation standards related to evaluation and assessment

Requirements for Non-PA applicant:
  • MS, MD, DO, PhD or EdD
  • Program evaluation and student assessment experience and demonstrated ability to comply with accreditation standards related to evaluation and assessment

About the PA Program: The ARC-PA has granted Accreditation-Provisional status to the Marist College Physician Assistant Program sponsored by Marist College.

Accreditation-Provisional is an accreditation status granted when the plans and resource allocation, if fully implemented as planned, of a proposed program that has not yet enrolled students appear to demonstrate the program's ability to meet the ARC-PA Standards or when a program holding Accreditation-Provisional status appears to demonstrate continued progress in complying with the Standards as it prepares for the graduation of the first class (cohort) of students.

Accreditation-Provisional does not ensure any subsequent accreditation status. It is limited to no more than five years from matriculation of the first class..
