Principal Faculty, Physician Assistant Program

Position Title: Principal Faculty

Academic Program & School: Physician Assistant Program, School of Science

Job Summary: The Physician Assistant Program at Marist College is seeking two (2) highly qualified individuals to serve as Principal Faculty to join a highly collaborative team that is establishing a strong, successful PA program, which recently achieved a 100% PANCE pass rate for its first graduating class. Both faculty members will collaborate with the Program Director, PA faculty, and staff to support the program's mission and ensure compliance with ARC-PA accreditation standards. This full-time, 12-month position will report to the Program Director and work closely with students, program faculty, and staff. The program is dedicated to allotting time and resources for the professional development of faculty and staff. Any outside work, other than the one clinical day per week provided by the program, will be subject to the approval by the Dean. Salary and rank for the position is commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Minimum Qualifications: The College seeks a physician assistant or other graduate level trained candidate with proven experience in assessment of student learning and ensuring compliance with ARC-PA standards. The successful candidate will, preferably, have 1-3 years' teaching experience in a higher education setting, demonstrate effective communication and collaborative skills in a team-oriented environment, and a history of successful time management.

Essential Functions:
  • Teach didactic courses in the areas of clinical medicine and related clinical areas to include ethics and behavioral medicine
  • Assist with student academic advising
  • Supervise students in both didactic and clinical courses and activities
  • Assist with admission, application review and interviews
  • Assist with ARC-PA accreditation activities
  • Maintain licensure and/or certification

Special Applicant Requirements: Requirements for PA applicant:
  • A master's degree from an ARC-PA accredited program
  • Current NCCPA certification
  • Current license or eligibility for licensing as a physician assistant in the State of New York
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience (primary care), preferred
  • Program evaluation and student assessment experience and demonstrated ability to comply with accreditation standards related to evaluation and assessment

Requirements for Non-PA applicant:
  • MS, MD, DO, PhD or EdD
  • Program evaluation and student assessment experience and demonstrated ability to comply with accreditation standards related to evaluation and assessment.

Required Application Documents: Applications should be accompanied by a letter of interest which highlights relevant assessment experience, curriculum vitae, statement of teaching philosophy and goals, copies of all undergraduate and graduate transcripts, and the names and contact details of at least three professional references.

About the PA Program: The ARC-PA has granted Accreditation-Provisional status to the Marist College Physician Assistant Program sponsored by Marist College.

Accreditation-Provisional is an accreditation status granted when the plans and resource allocation, if fully implemented as planned, of a proposed program that has not yet enrolled students appear to demonstrate the program's ability to meet the ARC-PA Standards or when a program holding Accreditation-Provisional status appears to demonstrate continued progress in complying with the Standards as it prepares for the graduation of the first class (cohort) of students.

Accreditation-Provisional does not ensure any subsequent accreditation status. It is limited to no more than five years from matriculation of the first class.
