Research Services Librarian

Position Title: Part-Time Research Services Librarian

Department: Library

Job Summary: Provide research services to faculty and students both individually and in group settings in multiple formats at multiple locations. Teach information literacy skills to students and faculty. Participate in the professional work of the library by assisting with policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications: Master's Degree in Library Science or Library and Information Science

Essential Functions: Assist patrons with research needs
  • Assisting patrons with reference queries in person, over the phone and by email.
  • Instructing patrons in use of library resources and online library system.
  • Conducting online and other database searches.
  • Compiling statistics.
  • Directing patrons to appropriate service points.
  • Participating in Interlibrary Loan activity

Information Literacy Instruction
  • Developing course and subject specific information literacy tools such as LibGuides, activities, and handouts.
  • Present library instruction sessions for Writing for College courses, First Year Seminars and student and staff orientations.
  • Instructing faculty, students and staff in the use of Library information materials, resources, and services.

Participate in the professional work of the Library
  • Cooperating with other librarians to provide service and assistance according to library objectives
  • Assisting in the discussion and formulation of library policies and procedures and in problem resolution

Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications: Reference experience in an academic library
