Development Officer, School of Management

Position Title: Development Officer for School of Management

Department: Advancement Office / School of Management

Job Summary: Marist College seeks an experienced and successful gift officer to join the Office of College Advancement. The Development Officer serves as a dedicated individual gifts fundraiser for the School of Management (SOM) and the primary liaison to its Board of Advisors. The Development Officer (DO) carries a portfolio of 100+ individual prospects. Working in close collaboration with an entrepreneurial and forward-thinking Dean, dedicated and accomplished faculty, and other administrative leaders within the SOM and the Office of College Advancement (OCA), the Officer will develop and advance key relationships with highly accomplished alumni and friends of the SOM.

An emphasis is placed on identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding special and leadership gift support from graduate alumni, though select undergraduate alumni and regional business leaders will also be included in the DO's portfolio. The Development Officer will solicit gifts ranging from leadership annual giving to major gifts.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and seven or more years of front-line fundraising experience in higher education is strongly preferred, but non-traditional, related experience will be considered. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with a high level of sophistication, diplomacy, and tact. Persuasive communication skills (both verbal and written) with demonstrated success in managing multiple projects simultaneously required. Strong computer skills with expertise in MS office.

Essential Functions: Identify, cultivate, solicit, close and steward special and leadership gift support from key alumni and friends of the SOM; conduct 10-12 personal visits per month (travel is primarily in NE); Serve as the primary liaison for the SOM Board of Advisors, working in close collaboration with the Dean and AVP for Development; identify, recruit, solicit, and support new board members and other volunteer leaders for the SOM, including those who enhance the School's career development efforts; development and management of strategic cultivation events for major donors prospects in collaboration with the OCA, support both advancement and SOM events throughout the year; Play an integral role in the College's comprehensive fundraising campaigns; Other duties as assigned.

Development Officer will frequently meet with prospective donors, advisory council members, faculty, other advancement partners, and others, particularly with regard to special events, outside the prescribed business hours. Travel is required.
