Psychologist, Office of Counseling Services

Position Title: Psychologist

Department: Office of Counseling Services/Student Affairs

Job Summary: Office of Counseling Services seeks an experienced, collaborative-spirited psychologist to provide culturally and trauma-informed services to diverse undergraduate and graduate student populations.

Services include individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, consultation, supervision and psychoeducational programming and outreach. This a nine-month, permanent, full-time position during the academic year.

Minimum Qualifications: Doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA-accredited program; licensed or license-eligible in New York (within one year of assuming position); a minimum of three years demonstrated experience in individual and group counseling with college age and graduate students; excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills.

Essential Functions: Conduct intake evaluations and individual counseling. Develop and co-lead groups or workshops. Provide risk assessments and crisis interventions including facilitating referrals for hospital psychiatric evaluations. Participate in after-hours on-call rotation. Consult with faculty, staff, students, families and administration on student behavioral and mental health concerns through phone and in-person contacts. Supervise practicum level graduate student. Develop and facilitate psychoeducational programs/outreach for diverse student groups, especially marginalized students, to promote campus-wide holistic health, inclusion and equity. Collaborate with campus constituents via outreach programming, committees, and responses to campus needs. Maintain current, accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with state and federal law, ethical and professional guidelines and Counseling Services policies.

Preferred Qualifications: Commitment to and experience working with diverse and underrepresented populations. Strong generalist skills with specialized expertise working with certain populations, clinical issues, or evidenced-based practices. Ability to manage high demand for services and changing needs of campus community. Experience in providing group therapy and workshops.

About the Department: Counseling Services is a thriving center providing culturally- and trauma-informed services to undergraduate and graduate students while supporting the greater Marist community. Services include individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, consultation, psychiatric services and campus-wide psychoeducational programs/outreach. Our multidisciplinary staff consists of psychologists, clinical social workers, mental health counselors, graduate interns, a psychiatrist and consulting nutritionist. We strive for holistic wellness through our working relationships with other campus constituents, such as Health Services, Housing, Accommodations, and Academic Affairs.
