Post-Doctoral Fellowship–Early Language Devel

The Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College (MLFTC) is seeking applicants for a Post-Doctoral Felllowship: Research on Supporting Early Language Development of Preschool Children with Drama Integration for up to four academic years, starting during the 2018-2019 academic year. The appointment will begin no later than June 15, 2019.This is a residential fellowship. Salary is competitive, full benefits are included. The selected fellow will work on research germane to examining drama-based instruction with preschool-age children. Ongoing projects at ASU and project partners will be tapped to provide mentoring opportunities and authentic collaborative experiences.

The post-doctoral fellow will be apprenticed to (a) recruit and manage human subjects, (b) train assessors, (c) develop measures, (d) collect data, and (e) analyze date and disseminate results. All of this work aligns within the mission of MLFTC of having a positive impact on PreK-12 education.

Required Qualifications:

  • Earned Ph.D. or Ed.D. in early childhood development, speech and hearing, educational psychology, psychology, or in a related field within the past four years from an accredited university.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Past experiences in early childhood educational settings, program evaluation, curriculum and instruction, educational assessment; interest in producing research related to learning, child development, language acquisition and cognitive science.

If you were offered the postdoctoral fellowship, explain in 500 words or less how you will advance teacher education research in the area of character development.

In 700 words or fewer, explain how your research interests have evolved. Describe your career plans for the next five years and how this fellowship will contribute to your career goals.

Samples of Scholarly Writing

Submit two samples (published or unpublished) of your scholarly work, one of which should be a research paper that represents your work as an emerging scholar and future career trajectory. The two manuscripts should not exceed a total of forty (40) pages.
