Applications are currently being accepted for Instructional Lab Technician / Chemistry in the Engineering & Technologies, Mathematic, Sciences, and Nursing Department located at San Diego City College. Hours are Monday-Friday/40 hours). Selected candidate must be willing to adjust work days/hours based on the department's needs.

Please note that an employee may be transferred to any site at the option of the Chancellor.

1. Evidence of relevant training and experience.2. Evidence of experience and skill in the function, use, maintenance, care, and repair of common chemistry laboratory instruments and equipment, including computers and computer-interfaced instruments.3. Evidence of experience and skill in laboratory and stockroom organization and management, including: equipment procurement, inventory, storage, and security; record-keeping; budget maintenance; use of appropriate references and resources; and organizing work to meet deadlines.4. Evidence of skill and knowledge in the use of a variety of laboratory procedures and techniques to prepare and conduct experiments in a variety of chemistry courses.5. Evidence of experience in and knowledge of safe practices and safety regulations in the handling of chemicals, hazardous waste, and scientific equipment.6. Evidence of the ability to communicate effectively and to work cooperatively with faculty, students, administration, and staff in an environment of shared responsibilities.7. Evidence of skill and knowledge in the calculations and techniques necessary for the proper preparation and handling of chemical solutions.8. Evidence of demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of diverse cultural, ethnic, educational, and socioeconomic backgrounds.9. Evidence of the ability to plan and prioritize tasks, work independently, delegate work to and provide training for instructional assistants, and oversee a complex instructional chemistry laboratory.

Pay Information:
Range 24-($3,780.00 $6,033.74) per month based on the current AFT Classified Unit Office Technical Salary Schedule

Initial salary placement is commensurate with related experience and promotional rules. The District offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package including employer paid: medical, dental, and vision plans; sick and vacation leave; and opportunities for professional development. Initial Salary Placement, Promoted or transferred employees will be placed as specified in the AFT-Guild, Local 1931 Classified Staff Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is FLSA Non-Exempt and may accrue overtime. A temporary probationary period will be applied to the employee entering this assignment.
